Developed for a joint venture between the Stella Maris Church and St Vincent’s Aged Care in Maroochydore, the development commenced with the demolition of the original church to make way a broadscale, integrated Church and Ages Care facility.
The development included a new naturally ventilated Church capable of seating 500 people with adjacent vestry, administration, wellness centre, café and priest accommodation as well as a 4 storey aged care facility incorporating varying levels of care accommodation including dementia, low and high care facilities all supported by on site commercial catering facilities.
Being located in an historical flood area, extensive civil works were undertaken including raising the site and undertaking a major upgrade to the largest truck sewer main which runs through Maroochydore and the site.
As a final touch to the project, the project team co-ordinated the crafting of a new crucifix for the Church from the timber salvaged from an old mango tree which was located on the site prior to demolition.
